About Katie
I’m based in Bloomington, Indiana, and I came to pottery a little unexpectedly. I’ve always loved handmade ceramics and signed up for my first class on a whim. I quickly became hooked on the process of working with clay - something about the rhythm of wheel throwing and the focus it requires really stuck with me. What started as curiosity turned into something I wanted to keep showing up for, and over time it grew into a consistent part of my life. Being able to create pieces that others can use and enjoy in their daily routines is what keeps me coming back to the studio.
My work focuses on functional pottery meant to be used every day. I’m drawn to pattern and texture, and much of what I make is inspired by nature, with carved leaves and florals mixed in with more geometric designs.
At the end of the day, I make pieces that are meant to be lived with - mugs, bowls, and everyday objects you reach for without thinking, the ones that become part of your routine. If something I’ve made can bring a small moment of enjoyment to your day, then it’s doing exactly what I hoped it would.
